Medical negligence, also known as clinical negligence, is when a person has been given care below the expected standard. All medical professionals must exercise reasonable skill when performing their duties in order to keep their patients safe from harm. Legally, this is known as a duty of care. A doctor breaches their duty of care if they do not meet acceptable care standards.
